Loss of a Spouse

Loss of a Spouse

When dealing with the loss of a spouse, there are many secondary losses that are also grieved. The death of a significant person is a major loss but there are also the losses of hopes, dreams, wishes, expectations, and other relationships. It is not only what is lost in the present but also the future. This may include sharing
your retirement together, church functions, couples’ groups, a child’s wedding and grandchildren’s first events. Your feelings may include, shock, depression, panic, guilt, anger and hostility.

Help is often needed to develop your own self and your new life without the person. We can help you discover new directions for the emotional investments you once had in the person you lost. Part of the process means you are no longer fighting your loss but accepting it.
